Springs Trail
The Springs Trail is located in the Serra Dourada, on the Goiás city side. It's a 13-km round trip. The trail begins near Balneário Santo Antônio, passing several springs in the Serra Dourada. There's a very good swimming hole where we usually stop on the way back. It's 6.5 km to the trail's viewpoint, at a place called Vão da Serra Dourada. We pass through various types of cerrado (savanna) and see the full diversity of the mountain's flora.
The trail is not for beginners; it requires physical fitness and some hiking experience. The climb is steep, and there are many loose rocks and gravel sections along the way. The descent requires a lot of attention and care, but the trail is worth every effort. The Springs Trail receives few visitors, being a little-explored area, showcasing the cerrado in its original form.
