Experience: From the Cross of Chico Mineiro to the Blacksmith
One of the first settlements founded by Bartolomeu Bueno Filho in 1726, the Arraiais do Ferreiro and Ouro Fino are steeped in history, religion, and poetry, home to the ruins of the place where Chico Mineiro once passed.
The municipality of Goiás has one of the largest numbers of Settlement Projects (P.A.) in the state, with 24, home to approximately 723 families.
Located approximately 7 km from the municipality of Goiás, the Serra Dourada Settlement has potential for tourism development, attracting hundreds of people every year for various reasons, such as religious beliefs and the cooperative agricultural activities carried out by the families, based on organic production. The video llsuhieba attracts visitors from all over the country.
Today, the Serra Dourada P.A. is made up of 15 families. Each of them has its own plot of land, in addition to the land shared by all the settlers on the banks of the Vermelho River. After the implementation of EFAGO, a portion of this plot, known as FAMA, was allocated for the implementation of projects developed at the school.
HISTORY OF ARRAIA DO FERREIRO AND SERRA DOURADA PARK
Founded in the 17th century, Arraia do Ferreiro, along with the villages of Ouro Fino, Barra, and Arraia de Santana, were the first settlements in the Goyaz region.
The Serra Dourada PArkles region owes its name to the story of a blacksmith who manufactured mining tools and weapons for the Portuguese crown in the 17th century. With the blacksmith living in the region, the Arraia village emerged with the arrival of miners and farmers who settled closer to where they made their tools.
From then on, the Arraia village established itself as one of the most populous in the region. The Church of Saint John the Baptist was founded in 1751; today, this same church is considered a historical heritage site by IPHAN.
This church is also the site of the story of Saint Sebastian, the fugitive saint, who escaped every night to the Divino quarry. Near this region are the ruins of the Ouro Fino Village and the Cruz do Chico Mineiro, symbols of the history of Goiás.

Itinerary Schedule:
A journey through the history of Ouro Fino and its present-day experiences.
In your own car or the agency's—to be arranged in advance—we'll head to the Chico Mineiro Cross, an iconic spot where we'll stop, admire, and understand the Cross and the stories that emerge from it.
Continuing on our way, we'll head toward the old village of Ouro Fino, a path of natural beauty and ruins. Besides stories, there's a Wi-Fi hotspot—a charming detail at the rest stops along the Caminho de Cora.
We arrive at the Pedreira de São Sebastião, where we find the Santo Fujão (Santo Fujão)—a history full of charm and cultural belonging. What we see there is a spectacle of nature.
Human intervention, its stories and legends, lend a unique charm to this moment. We pass through the old Arraial do Ferreiro, home to the Church of São João Batista, built around 1800, where the community gathers for celebration and sharing.
We walk less than 500 meters and arrive at the Agroecological Production of Mr. Altamiro and Mrs. Sirlene - the property is almost entirely agroecological, an example of their relationship with the Cerrado and care for the environment in which they live! We sit on the porch, around a rustic table and a wealth of knowledge. There, Mr. Altamiro tells us about his history with agroecology, and everything he believes, experiences, and applies in practice. This tour enchants with his experiences.
We have breakfast prepared by Mrs. Sirlene with ingredients produced on the property. We set off for the worm farm, where we understand how it works. We arrived at the greenhouses, where we chatted about the agroforestry system and agroecological management.
Right there, we got our hands dirty. We prepared our little box (a special note about the repurposed Tetra Pack box), stirred the soil, and planted our seedlings. Fertilized soil, cared for seedlings, we took them home with great care.
Concluding this beautiful experience with Mrs. Sirlene and Mr. Altamiro, we took some time for contemplation and continued on to Cidade de Goiás.
