Canyons of Serra Dourada
The Serra Dourada Canyons trail is approximately 6.5 kilometers long, reaching rock formations carved into deep valleys by the action of rivers, the movement of tectonic plates, and wind erosion over millions of years.
At the site we visited, the canyons can be up to 30 meters deep. We passed through different types of cerrado and rock compositions, allowing us to see up close the biodiversity of Serra Dourada State Park, worthy of appreciation for its unique beauty.
The first point is the entrance to the canyons, where the cerrado stricto sensu transitions into the cerrado rupestre, giving rise to a beautiful and imposing rocky landscape. We continued hiking through the canyons to the Papyrus Well, from there we continued on to the next attraction.
Our second attraction is the Poço do Brinco, bathed by the Braz Mendes River, which originates in the canyons, and is one of the most beautiful places created by nature.
From there, we descend to the Braz Mendes Waterfall to cool off in the therapeutic water at the end of the hike among the imposing rock formations.
